Educational aims

The objective of the course is to analyze the choices of consumers and corporations, groups and governments, networks and nations, offering in depth study of macroeconomic and microeconomic theory. The first part of the course introduces students to basic tools widely used in microeconomics for the analysis of consumer and producer theory. The second part of the course introduces students to basic concepts of macroeconomics, such as booms and recessions, the economy’s total output and its growth, inflation and unemployment.

This course is divided in two parts.

Part 1 - Microeconomics (Course A: Dott.ssa Daniela Sonedda; Course B: Dott.ssa Carmen Aina) - 5 CFU

2.    Demand and Supply: Chap 3 (LC)
3.    Elasticity of Demand and Supply: Chap 4 (LC)
4.    Consumer Choice: Chap 6 and 7 (LC)
5.    Producer choice and the cost structure of firms: Chap 8 and 9 (LC)
6.    Perfect Competition: Chap 10 (LC)
7.    Monopoly: Chap (11)
8.    Imperfect Competition and The Role of Government: Chap (5 e 12)

Part 2 - Macroeconomics (Course A: Dott.ssa Alessia Amighini; Course B: Prof. Martin Zagler) - 5 CFU

9.    Introduction (BAG capp. 1, 2)
10.    The short run (BAG capp. 3, 4, 5, 6)
11.    The medium run (BAG capp. 7, 8, 9, 10)
