Objectives

The module is intended to provide a basic understanding of the major institutions of Roman law, Roman economy and its social and political dynamics. The deepening of the topics covered in the course of the lessons, intends to launch an analysis in the perspective of historical law leading institutes of commercial law, with an emphasis on those from which are derived institutes still present in the Italian legal system.

Content

The course will cover the study of Roman commercial law, in particular, the following topics:
-periodization of Roman trade law;
-the three types of private Roman process;
-the use of slaves in entrepreneurial activities;
-the Earth's trade;
-the navigation;
-the production company;
-banking firm;
-the freedom of competition;
-unfair competition;
-transport and storage of goods;
-companies;
-crimes against the public economy.
