The course aims to understand the relations between development of the tourism industry and the natural environment, as well as the main topics and tools for environmental policy and the development in tourism enterprises of environmental management systems in order to pursue sustainable tourism development

Definition of enviroment: biotics and abiotics – energetic and biogeochemical cycles. Environmental resources. Anthropic environments. Environmental deteriorations – Main types of pollution. Environmental quality evaluation indexes. Relations between environment preservation and economic development. International conferences on climate changes and mitigation strategies. EU environmental policies: from EU Frame Work Programmes to Integrated Product Policy. Environmental labels for touristic accomodation and environmental management tools.
