Educational aims


The objective of the course is to analyse the economic principles that govern employment relations and company choices in the area of human capital, provision of incentives, careers, bonuses and personnel recruitment that companies implement in the new socio-economic context represented by a knowledge-based society. The course is designed to provide students with the knowledge for working with and managing personnel and human resources in all the various company phases.
The course is divided into three modules. The first module (3 ECTS) aims to provide an economic approach about the fundamental information useful in understanding the logic behind managing and developing personnel within the companies. The second module (1ECTS) is based on company case studies and lectures by experts from the business world. The last module (2 ECTS) is based on computer laboratory in which students will apply concepts learned during the lectures (first module).
The course itself is dynamic and requires the active participation of the students.

Content of the course

Module I:
-    theories of coordination and motivation (chap. 5 and 6);
-    coordination, motivation, and management (chap. 10, 11, 12 and13).

Module II:
-    case studies.

Module III:
-    training lab classes, where computers and dedicated software will be applied to conduct simple, but practical examples on the topics discussed during the modules I and II.

Examination

For students who attend classes the final course grade is composed by:
-    attendance of case studies and training lab classes counts 50%;
-    written examination (45 minutes) counts 50%;
